MUAY THAI
KICK BOXING - K1 COURSE
Muay Thai / Kick Boxing K1 at The Roman Gladiators
Our striking program focuses on mastering two powerful disciplines: Muay Thai and Kickboxing K1. Rather than blending these combat sports into a hybrid, we approach them as distinct arts, diving deep into the stance, techniques, and body mechanics unique to each discipline.
Our method encourages athletes to study and understand both styles thoroughly, providing a well-rounded skill set that allows for adaptability in striking combat.
The TRG Approach
The aim is to equip athletes with the ability to face a variety of fighting styles, enhancing versatility and unpredictability in the ring. As the saying goes, "When you only have one weapon, you're limited compared to someone who has many."
By learning both Muay Thai and Kickboxing K1, athletes gain the advantage of altering the course of a fight. If one approach proves challenging, they can seamlessly switch tactics and change the game instantly.
As the head coach at TRG, I’ve studied numerous professional strikers, from traditional Muay Thai practitioners to K1 fighters. This experience has shaped a training philosophy that emphasizes reading the opponent and applying strategies they cannot defend against.
The TRG Striking Method
At TRG every striker begins with a foundational program tailored to their individual physical abilities and personality. For beginners, the first phase focuses on building a solid base. After 6-8 months of consistent training, we begin to mold the striking style to suit each athlete's unique attributes. For instance, a naturally aggressive fighter may not be suited to a defensive counter-striking approach. Instead, we align their training with their "inner soul" to enhance their natural strengths.
Is TRG MMA Only for Fighters?
Our striking program is open to everyone, not just fighters. While the training prepares individuals to spar and fight, participation in actual combat is always a personal choice. The focus is on pushing beyond one's limits to achieve progress, regardless of competitive aspirations.
Insights from Our Head Coach
Striking is a beautiful and demanding art that requires the right mindset for both sparring and fighting. The human brain is not naturally conditioned to receive hits, which makes mental preparation essential. "Hitting pads hard won't guarantee victory. When someone hits back, fear and pain take over, and that’s when 'beast mode' must be activated by sheer willpower."
At TRG, we don't just train the body—we shape the mind to overcome challenges inside and outside the ring.
